Buzz Off

Now, don't get jealous, but mosquitoes really love me. I don't know what it is, but I can be surrounded by people and still be the only one to get bit. Maybe they can just see my veins easier through my transparent skin and I'm an easy target.

We've been spending more time on the patio now that it's warm, so I decided to make some homemade citronella candles to surround myself with. What's nice about making these yourself is you can put them into whatever container you like, and you can control the scent. I added some eucalyptus oil to mine so it's a little more pleasant-smelling.

1. Glue wick down to the bottom of container.
2. Melt wax (I use microwaveable soy wax) and add essential oils (I used 10 drops citronella oil and 3 drops eucalyptus oil).
3. Pour the wax into your container.
4. Cut wick once wax has hardened completely.

A First

There's a first for everything. Usually my 'firsts' are terrible - just ask the boy I first kissed, the person who interviewed me for my first job, or my dad whose car I wrecked for the first time.

But, sometimes 'firsts' can be amazing. After all the years I've been thrifting, I finally thrifted a piece of clothing from Anthropologie. I can't even afford to park outside of that store, so when I found this skirt (new with tags!!) I panicked, stopped breathing for a second, and then did an awkward tiny fist pump. Which is exactly how my first kiss went down.

I loved that pink tutu. I'd get home from school, eat a hot pocket and corn nuts (only healthy snacks at our house!), and then put it on and twirl around until dinner. Basically, my childhood can be summed up as a series of fake ballet moves to fill the time between meals.

My parents once dared my older brother to put the tutu on, and now we have an awesome photo of him prancing around in it (that we of course bring out for every new girlfriend). Thankfully my brother and I both outgrew the tutu, and I realized that the ballerina life wasn't for me. I'm more of a hot pocket/pencil skirt kinda gal.
